We started the new year right with some quality-of-life updates that are sure to improve your experience. From adding new accessibility features, to setting up new ways for the app to remember your previous settings, we’re taking “new year, new me” to new levels!

Calendar & Attendance

  • We added additional detections to help prevent scheduling conflicts in the calendar
  • Changing the price of a recurring lesson no longer starts a new series of lessons
  • The time picker on desktop now stays open as you select the hour, minute, and AM/PM
  • Accounts with no locations listed in the calendar no longer need to specify location
  • Saving a new event in the calendar will no longer automatically remove unassigned students
  • We fixed an issue with how the time was displaying during event creation

Families & Invoices

  • When moving a student to a new family, the remaining transactions that weren’t tied to a student (manual charges & payments, for example) now follow the student to the new family
  • We fixed an issue that caused duplicate students to show the incorrect status
  • Transactions can now be searched by “First Name, Last Name” in addition to “Last Name, First Name”
  • When manually adding multiple transactions, the family drop down will now scroll to the top of the list
  • The “Auto Pay” column on the Families & Invoices page can now be sorted
  • We fixed an issue that caused an error when attaching multiple images to a manual expense.

Student Management

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the parents of inactive students from receiving emails
  • We fixed an issue preventing students being moved to a new family while having a phone number on file

Student Portal

  • Lesson slots in the Student Portal now show the names of all family members attending that lesson
  • We fixed an issue that prevented students from signing up for a recurring event if they had any future scheduling conflicts

General/Other

  • We removed the ability for teachers without the permission to create reports to be able to download a list of students
  • We fixed an issue that caused a file selector to appear on mobile when adding new expenses
  • We fixed an issue that affected how preferences in a multi-teacher studio were being shown
  • In various areas, the app will now remember your settings the next time you try to perform the same action
  • Selecting a currency will now notify you if the currency selected doesn’t match your current region
  • When starting to compose a new email, returning to the previous screen will now automatically save what you were writing as a draft
  • We have upgraded keyboard functionality for menu buttons & dropdowns to improve accessibility.
  • We fixed an issue that allowed some settings to be changed using keyboard shortcuts
  • Added additional options to the “Payee” field when running an expense report
  • Mileage reporting now accurately represents the rate down to three decimal points (Mileage page also accurately reflects this)
  • Search filters in single-teacher accounts no longer include the option to filter by teacher
  • Repertoire can now be filtered by student’s name
  • We fixed an issue that allowed repertoire to be assigned to a student twice
  • Added the “email” field to Zapier “Add Student” integration
  • We fixed an issue that prevented non-admin users from seeing which students are assigned repertoire
  • We fixed an issue where inactive students were still visible in repertoire assignment list
  • Various cosmetic tweaks throughout

Student Management

  • You can now delete an address for an adult student (previously, it would still remain after saving the change)
  • The Last Login column now displays the time the last parent or student logged in, instead of just showing this data for the student’s login

Calendar & Attendance

  • We fixed an issue where extending the end date on a recurring series of events that had individual events within the series previously deleted wasn’t correctly updating the end date
  • We fixed an issue where taking overdue attendance for one student only wasn’t saving correctly
  • We fixed an issue where birthdays weren’t being displayed in Day view when organized by location
  • In the mobile calendar, if only one column is used the full names will be displayed
  • Events in the Home Agenda are now listed chronologically by start time, rather than end time
  • We fixed an issue preventing certain teachers in multi-teacher studios from being able to drag and drop lessons
  • We fixed an issues where teachers without the “Manage other teachers’ lessons/events & students” privilege wasn’t able to click their own students’ names from the calendar to open their profile
  • We updated the single teacher Agenda view to display as one column
  • We updated the mobile calendar to switch to detailed view by default to how more info at a glance (this setting can still be changed in your Calendar Preferences)
  • Student names in group events are now listed in alphabetical order in the Home Agenda
  • The Date & Time column of Attendance & Notes is now correctly sorting by newest to oldest
  • We fixed an issue that could prevent admins from seeing the price on calendar events if the teacher scheduled in those events had limited privileges
  • We fixed an issue with how teacher availability was displaying in the mobile Week Agenda view
  • We fixed an issue that could prevent attendee changes from saving when one student in a group event was no longer assigned to the event’s teacher

Student Portal

  • We removed the checkbox asking which teacher to email the Practice Log entry to when only one teacher is assigned to the student
  • Calendar events no longer show attendees that have already cancelled in the event pop-up
  • Links to open online lessons are once again opening in a new tab on the first click

General/Other

  • We fixed an issue where the maximum make-up credits policy was counting credits from before the issued on or after date
  • We fixed an issue where Repertoire Performance events were not passing the title along to synced calendars (the synced events would just display date & time)
  • We fixed an issue where changing the price on a single expense entry in a recurring entry was applying the price change to the future events in the series, and disabling it as a recurring entry wasn’t updating properly
  • We updated the Mileage page on mobile to show more details at a glance
  • We updated the SMS Privacy Alert warning to reflect iOS17 changes (“MMS Messaging” instead of “Group Messaging”
  • In various dialogs throughout, details from the previous entry is pre-filled when using Save & Add Another
  • In various tables throughout, after viewing or editing an item the page will remain focused on that item instead of scrolling to the top
  • Various cosmetic updates throughout

We’ve rounded up some of our latest bug fixes and feature updates, including an additional option to choose when setting up your auto-copy lesson notes preferences:

Student Management

  • We made a change to prevent all family contacts from being deleted off a child student’s profile
  • If the same email address is listed under a student and their family contact, it won’t list the email address in the To field more than once when sending an email to the selected students & parents
  • We fixed an issue where the “No email on file” banner was incorrectly displaying for a student/parent when they both had identical emails listed (the message would still correctly send to the email address)

Calendar & Attendance

  • We added an option under My Preferences to select whether you want previous lesson notes to copy forward from the most recent event for that student or from the same event category only
  • We fixed an error that was appearing when trying to sync with Outlook.com
  • We updated the Attendance Report options from the student’s profile so you can select a date range instead of always defaulting to 90 days
  • We fixed an issue where the calendar filter wouldn’t remain active if you were in Day view and then moved to a different day
  • We fixed an issue with phone numbers not being passed on to your SMS app when you send an SMS message from the calendar (if the number wasn’t set to SMS capable, it wouldn’t pass it on even though it was in the field for mobile numbers)
  • We added back the email & SMS reminder icons from the calendar event pop-up that were accidentally removed
  • We fixed an issue that was causing the mobile calendar in Week view to change back to a previous date after editing something on the calendar
  • We fixed an issue where assigning a new piece of repertoire on the Group Notes page would get stuck when trying to save
  • Substitute teachers can once again view the student’s home address for events set to use that location (it shows as a clickable link on the event pop-up)
  • When a date is deleted from a recurring series of events, it will no longer give a conflict warning if you try to schedule something for the same date/time as the deleted event
  • We fixed an issue that was unchecking the “Paid at lesson” checkbox when editing attendance that was previously taken
  • When you hover your cursor over the attendance icon on a calendar event, you’ll now see a small pop-up with the full attendance status
  • Teachers with the ability to view other teachers’ events can now see the attendee list for substituted events

General/Other

  • We added a message to inform you if your browser is unsupported (you can view our minimum browser requirements here)
  • We fixed an issue where some computer screen sizes were being detected as tablets, causing some pages to display certain elements incorrectly
  • We updated the sign-up form submission notification email so it includes the Policy Agreement Statement from the form, instead of just “True” or “False”
  • On the sign-up form, the Address field is now required to be filled out if you choose to add it to your form
  • We updated the sign-up form so dropdown options for a custom field are displayed in the order they were ordered (previously it was automatically alphabetizing them)
  • When uploading a profile picture with a large filesize, it will upload faster now or provide a helpful error message if it’s too large
  • We fixed an issue where, when editing a payroll transaction that you initially deselected as having sales tax applied, it would try to select the sales tax checkbox again when editing the details
  • Using the Search function on the Business Reports page will now search the contents of the Notes field as well
  • We updated the “Hide emailed invoices” filter so it includes invoices sent using the Invoice Reminder template
  • We fixed an issue where sorting Families & Invoices by Last Payment Date and then switching to the next page of families would duplicate some of the families in the list on the next page
  • We fixed the “New Invoice” trigger in Zapier
  • We improved a performance issue for a number of bulk editing features – including updating student prices, assigning/removing students to teachers, and cloning/deleting events in bulk
  • We updated the display size of the studio logo so it doesn’t appear squished, stretched, or incorrectly cropped on the payment page or Business Settings page
  • We fixed an issue where the payroll balance in a teacher’s profile was updating based on what page of the payroll entries you were on, rather than showing as of the specified balance date
  • You can now delete a teacher who has no assigned students, previous or upcoming lessons scheduled, active library items or repertoire, etc.
  • We fixed an error that was preventing you from uploading an expense from an image using your camera (it was still working when you uploaded an image)

We’ve got a few big updates this month, including some much-requested calendar changes to improve the layout (especially in large multi-teacher schools!) and a new version of the sign-up form. All these and more, below:

Student Management

  • We released a new version of the sign-up form! This allows for a better workflow when adding multiple students, more clarity when registering as an adult student, the ability to sign up with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Stripe Link (if you use our Stripe integration), and other overall usability issues
  • We fixed an issue where Waiting students’/parents’ email addresses weren’t populating when the inactive students checkbox was selected
  • We added an “Unassigned” option when searching by teacher or by group
  • We fixed an issue where the Groups tab was appearing for teachers who didn’t have the privilege to manage other teachers’ students
  • When adding a new student who is already a parent, it no longer creates a duplicate parent entry for the children
  • The search field will now search in the family contact’s address
  • We fixed an incorrect error message that was appearing when typing in the email subject line
  • We fixed an error that was coming up when trying to send a manual SMS from a desktop (it should ask what program you want to use)

Calendar & Attendance

  • We made a number of cosmetic changes to event blocks on the calendar to reduce spacing, remove unnecessary icons, and display more details
  • We added the time in each event block in Week Agenda view and Day view
  • We updated the Week Agenda view to align events better for the same teacher
  • In Day view, organized by location, the calendar will now hide the columns for locations with no events scheduled
  • When adding group notes for an event, you can now select “All Parent Emails” when the attendees are from the same family and the parent is also a student
  • We fixed the row height in Timeline view so it no longer increases the height for all rows when only one of them is increased to show the events
  • We updated the Timeline view so you can no longer accidentally drag and drop an event into the instrument or location row
  • We fixed an issue with the mobile Month List view where it wasn’t scrolling to the correct day in the list
  • Teachers with the ability to manage other teachers’ schedules can now select to notify another teacher while cancelling their event
  • We fixed an issue that was preventing the calendar from being printed if only one day was selected
  • In Day view, organized by location, with a teacher filter applied, you can now see blocks showing when each location is booked to prevent scheduling conflicts
  • We fixed an error that was preventing the calendar from syncing to Outlook.com

Families & Invoices

  • We fixed an error that would pop up when trying to save a manual payment without the amount entered
  • We fixed an issue impacting some accounts using specific currencies weren’t loading Stripe during the checkout process
  • You can now search by email address on the Families & Invoices page

General/Other

  • We removed the “Your trial is ending soon!” banner that was accidentally appearing when using your phone to track your trip under Mileage
  • We fixed an issue where some HTML in the header of email templates was being removed after saving changes, which could impact some formatting
  • We fixed an issue where making an overdue payment from the Student Portal was bypassing the late fee
  • We fixed an issue where group lessons weren’t displaying on the Student Portal home page after clicking “This Week”
  • We fixed an issue where students who had been unassigned from a teacher would still be notified if that teacher uploaded a new Online Resource and assigned it to all their students
  • We fixed an error that was sometimes causing the Membership page to get stuck saving a change to payment information
  • Various cosmetic tweaks throughout

School is back in session and the leaves are juuuuust starting to change, but one thing that never changes is the My Music Staff team releasing improvements and fixing bugs! Check out our roundup of September changes below:

Student Management

  • We fixed an issue where parent email addresses weren’t correctly populating in the To field when non-administrator teachers were using the Groups selector to add parent emails
  • When searching By Teacher on the Students page, the teacher options are now in alphabetical order
  • We also alphabetized the names of assigned students in each group when looking at the Groups tab
  • We moved the email forward button to a more visible place on the View Message dialog, and added the ability to quick-copy the email contents in just one click

Calendar & Attendance

  • We’ve added a calendar preference to choose whether you want to show all student names in a group lesson or just the number of attendees when looking at the calendar view
  • We fixed an issue where the option to email lesson notes to teachers was mistakenly displayed for events set to No Teacher – Entire Studio
  • We fixed an error that would occur when editing the last event in a recurring series to a date after the original end date
  • We fixed an issue where student birthdays weren’t displaying on the Home agenda (but they were on the calendar itself)
  • We updated the date picker pop-up so it will display the start of the week to match the region settings
  • We fixed an issue where the View Day button from the calendar pop-up wasn’t opening the correct day
  • We fixed an issue on mobile in the Week Agenda view where you couldn’t select an event immediately after dragging and dropping it (you needed to click elsewhere first)
  • We fixed a bug where the attendance icons on the calendar view were black when you had the Bold Theme selected
  • Teachers without the privilege enabled to take attendance can once again see student names on the calendar event
  • We fixed an issue with the date picker when printing your calendar (only affected certain regions)
  • We fixed an issue where pasting lesson notes from an outside source wasn’t retaining the formatting
  • When cancelling a No Teacher – Entire Studio event, we removed the option to email/SMS teachers

Families & Invoices

  • We fixed an issue where the PayPal Standard checkout process would calculate the convenience fee again
  • When setting up auto-invoicing, the Billing Start Date will now default back to the last setting you used
  • We made a change to immediately remove the Card on File and Auto Pay Enabled labels from the Students menu once a payment processor is made inactive or deleted
  • We added a banner to let you know if the balance date is set to a date prior to the transaction you just added, with a button to update the balance date to the current day so you can see it (this update applies to the Student Portal as well so parents can see their payment)

Student Portal

  • We updated the # of students displayed on an event in the calendar, so families can see the total number of attendees in the event rather than just the number of their students registered
  • We fixed an issue where the Student Login and Parent Login columns on the Students page weren’t being updated if the Student Portal invitation was sent through the sign-up form
  • We fixed an issue where only private events were being displayed on the Student Portal home page
  • We “unstickied” the search options in the Student Portal so the filter is cleared once they leave the session
  • We updated the balance at the top of the Account & Invoices page to display red or green depending on if it’s a negative or positive balance

General/Other

  • We fixed an issue affecting some pages where using the scroll wheel to scroll to the bottom of the page would bounce back up a bit when you reached the bottom
  • We fixed an issue where renaming a master folder would also update the student access for that folder and its subfolders
  • We fixed the search filter dropdown autocomplete so pressing Enter when the results have narrowed to down to one option will now correctly fill in that option
  • The To field will no longer load indefinitely for staff users without the “Manage Teacher & Students” privilege
  • We removed No Teacher – Entire Studio from the teacher dropdown in the Teachers & Staff menu
  • We fixed an issue where the 0 at the beginning or end of the CVV was being removed on the membership page which would cause an issue when updating your subscription payment method
  • We fixed an issue where the Edit dialog was opening instead of the Student Access dialog when editing an existing Online Resource
  • We fixed an error where a piece of repertoire wouldn’t load correctly when edited right after another edit was just saved
  • Various cosmetic tweaks throughout

Every music teacher runs their studio a little differently, and every music teacher has their own flow for going through their lessons:

  • Do you take notes during lessons or wait till the end of the day?
  • Do you upload files for students ahead of time or play catch up during admin time?
  • How do you track what pieces your students are working on?
  • And how do they track their own progress?

Whatever your lesson flow, My Music Staff helps manage your students’ assignments, progress, and practice without needing to leave the app!

The attendance page is your one stop shop for tracking student progress, assigning practice, sharing files, and more!

Lesson Notes

Online Resources

  • Share videos, audio files, PDFs, and any other files you want to share with your students
  • Link to files you’ve previously uploaded or upload a new file right from your device
  • Specify which files are View Only or available to View & Download
  • Share videos & audio that can be streamed directly in the Student Portal, slowed down/sped up, or played on a custom loop

Repertoire

Here’s an example of what your lesson flow could look like in My Music Staff:

  1. Open My Music Staff in your web browser, or from your phone or tablet’s home screen
  2. Review your Home Agenda for the day to see your upcoming students
  3. Get your student settled in and mark them Present
  4. Open Lesson Details to copy in your previous notes and make some edits as you go
  5. Switch to the Private Notes tab to jot a few points down for yourself
  6. Upload a file (like a theory worksheet) as a linked resource for the student
  7. Check off completed repertoire and assign a new piece (from your existing list or add a new piece right on that page)
  8. As your student is wrapping up their lesson, check off the option to email a copy of the notes to parents and click Save!

Everything you include here is also available for students and parents through the Student Portal.

First thing’s first – if you haven’t already invited families to use the Student Portal, you can do that in bulk in just a few clicks! Parent logins of multiple students will be able to see the info for all students in their family. Student logins (for students with their own email address) will only be able to see what’s assigned to them.

Once they’ve set up their username and password, they can even add the Student Portal to their phone to use it like an app.

Right from the home page, students can see their recently logged practice hours, lesson notes you’ve written for them, and any assigned repertoire. They can also see their upcoming lessons so they don’t forget!

The Practice Log lets students manually track practice time or use the built-in practice timer to track as they go.

Here’s an example of what your students’ practice flow could look like in My Music Staff:

  1. Open the Student Portal from their phone or tablet
  2. Review the lesson notes on the home page
  3. Download the assigned theory worksheet from Online Resources and complete it
  4. Go to the Practice Log to start the timer
  5. Open up the Repertoire they’re working on to review the notes and play the attached video
  6. Stop the timer, upload the theory worksheet, and save the Practice Log entry

This month, we’ve got updates big and small! We’ve upgraded our integrations with Stripe & PayPal to improve the online payment experience, added the ability to control what you see at the top of your home page, released some bugfixes, and made some small (but important!) cosmetic changes throughout.

Payment Processor Update

  • We upgraded our Stripe & PayPal integrations! Some benefits include:
    • A more seamless process to set up the integration
    • Apple Pay and Google Pay as available payment options for families (Stripe only)
    • Immediate verification when adding a bank account on file – no more waiting for microdeposits (Stripe only, US only)
    • Updated compliance with 3DS verification – families will no longer see a £0 or €0 amount displayed (Stripe only, EU/UK only)
    • The ability to have more than one payment processor connected at once for a smoother transition when switching from one processor to another

Student Management

  • We fixed an issue where selecting students on one page of your student list, then navigating to a different page, cleared the students you had already selected
  • We added a Cancel button to the student import loading dialog so you can stop the import process partway through

Calendar & Attendance

  • We fixed an issue where substitute teachers without the ability to manage other teachers’ students couldn’t see the name of the student in the event if they had been marked absent
  • Student names are now listed alphabetically when taking attendance for a group event
  • We fixed the calendar Day view to remove columns of teachers the logged in user doesn’t have privileges to view (before this change, they would see the column for each teacher in the studio but not see their events if they had that privilege disabled)
  • We updated the By Teacher calendar filter so teachers with the ability to view other teachers’ lessons/events but not manage them can still apply filters correctly (we also sorted the dropdown options alphabetically!)
  • We fixed an issue where the Convert to Make-up Event pop-up wasn’t appearing consistently when marking all students absent prior to the lesson time
  • We fixed an issue where you couldn’t email attendees of group events set to “No Teacher – Entire Studio” from the calendar pop-up
  • We fixed the shading on calendar days without teacher availability set (previously they were displaying with no shading, instead of all shaded in)
  • We fixed an issue that sometimes occurred when trying to edit the specific days of a daily repeating event
  • We fixed an issue where, after taking attendance for an event that doesn’t require make-up credits and marking it Present, Use Make-Up Credit, editing that attendance would default back to Lesson is Billable

Families & Invoices

  • We fixed an issue where the Emailed label on invoices sometimes required you to refresh the page or log out/log back in to display
  • We changed the Student Portal Account & Invoices balance date so it automatically adjusts to the current day right after the family makes a payment (so they can instantly see the transaction and know it was paid!)
  • On mobile, we fixed a bug where the balance date reverted back to the current day after it had been manually changed

General/Other

  • We added the ability to show or hide specific cards on the home page – just click the gear in the top right corner to select which ones you want! The panel will automatically collapse when all options are hidden
  • We updated the Practice Log notes area so it correctly displays multi-line text without removing the spacing
  • When listing multiple families in a dialog banner, it will now show the first three by default with an option to show more, to prevent having to scroll down the screen if there’s a long list
  • We fixed the order recent lesson notes are displayed on the Student Portal home page so the most recent notes are listed first
  • We fixed an issue where saving an Online Resources with a filename that exceeds 255 characters would drop the file extension, making it unable to open

“Mabel was able to update the mobile table” – try saying that three times fast! While we don’t have anyone on the My Music Staff team named Mabel, we do have a fabulous team of designers & developers who were able to update how the Students and Teachers & Staff tables look on the mobile view. You can now see more of the list at once and tap a name to expand more details. This, and many more updates & fixes, below:

Student Management

  • We added in some of the fields for parent contact info to the Add Student page, like the address field and “SMS capable” checkbox for their phone number (previously, after adding a new student you’d need to go into their profile to update this information)
  • We fixed an issue where, when trying to assign a new student to a group, the group field wasn’t populating suggestions of existing groups
  • We added Lead students to the clickable student count at the top of the Students page
  • We made a change to prevent students from being assigned to a non-teaching staff member
  • We updated the mobile view on the Students and Teachers & Staff pages to show more of the list on the screen at once (tap a student/teacher to open up more details)

Calendar & Attendance

  • We fixed an issue where inactive repertoire was showing in the dropdown options when searching for a piece of rep to assign while taking attendance
  • We’ve added composer and instrument details next to the repertoire suggestions when adding a new piece from the attendance page
  • We fixed an issue where teachers with the privilege to view other teachers’ lessons couldn’t select those teachers from the calendar filter
  • We fixed a cosmetic issue with the calendar where, if the account’s time zone was different than the device’s time zone, the current day would be highlighted correctly but the next day was incorrectly highlighted in a dark color
  • We removed the Online Registration option on a teacher’s profile if they’re set to be a non-teaching staff, since they wouldn’t be able to be scheduled on the calendar
  • We updated the calendar Day view so it no longer includes a column for non-teaching staff
  • We added back the missing icon to email students registered in a group lesson set to “No Teacher – Entire Studio”
  • We fixed an issue that could cause a conflict warning message to appear when trying to schedule an event that overlapped with another by one second
  • From the Home Agenda, all teachers can now select “No Teacher – Entire Studio” events to view
  • When dragging and dropping an event from one teacher to another, we fixed an issue where the teacher name wasn’t immediately updating
  • We fixed an error message that would appear if you tried to clone an event in a recurring series to a date that was beyond the end date of the original series

Families & Invoices

  • We fixed an issue where selecting families on the Family Accounts page, and then going to the Invoices tab to create a new invoice wasn’t automatically selecting those families to be included on the invoice
  • When you email invoices in bulk, we’ve limited the number of recipients displayed in the “To” field to reduce scrolling (now, you’ll see the first few and an option to See More)
  • We updated the Send Invoice dialog to its own page to improve usability and eliminate the need to scroll in the pop-up
  • We fixed an issue where the Next button was sometimes disabled when setting up auto-invoicing while adding a new student if the invoice date selected was after the billing cycle start date
  • Teachers with all user privileges except for Administrator can now select the studio email as the sender when emailing an invoice
  • We added the ability to sort the Last Payment Date and Last Invoice Date on the Families & Invoices page
  • We fixed an issue when updating auto-invoice settings where the message explaining how many days after the invoice was displaying an incorrect number
  • When emailing invoices in bulk, if you select more than one invoice for the same family it will now only display their email address in the To field once
  • We fixed an issue where the dialog warning you of a balance date in the past was still appearing after the balance date was adjusted

General/Other

  • In a month with no mileage recorded, we updated the graphic & text that displays and added the toolbar back so new entries can be easily added
  • We fixed the playback speed selector when watching a video in Online Resources so it no longer has 50% selected as the default (the videos themselves were still playing at 100% speed by default)
  • We updated the Student Portal so any changes made to visible columns on a page would be saved once you navigate away and back
  • Various cosmetic tweaks throughout

You may be done your spring cleaning at home, but it’s time to declutter your My Music Staff account… you can now archive old invoices so they’re outta sight, outta mind!

Check out our latest updates & fixes below:

Calendar & Attendance

  • We made some improvements to the flow of adding a new online resource while taking attendance, so it shows the same Download Permission options as when uploading directly to Online Resources
  • We added the attendance status hover label for when a group event has mixed attendance statuses
  • We fixed an issue where non-admin teachers were unable to email lesson notes that had a linked online resource
  • We added a banner to warn of any issues when trying to take attendance for a make-up required event in a category that isn’t set to allow make-ups
  • Teachers can now see all attendee names for events set to No Teacher – Entire Studio even if those students are not assigned to them
  • We fixed an issue that would sometimes display the incorrect time on a calendar event pop-up after it was dragged to a new time
  • We fixed an error that could occur when an admin tried to record payment while taking attendance for a lesson they were substituting for a non-admin

Families & Invoices

  • We added a dialog when trying to delete a calendar-generated monthly charge so you can now adjust it to be $0 (or your local currency) instead (just like before, if you want to remove it completely, you should remove the associated events from the calendar)
  • We introduced a feature where you can archive invoices to help declutter your history of invoices (large studios or studios who have used MMS for years may have a loooottt of old invoices!)
  • We added the optional Set Up Auto-Invoicing step when adding a new student to an existing family that doesn’t already have auto-invoicing set up
  • We fixed a bug where following the Balance Owing link from the home agenda to create an invoice would then retain that family’s name when creating an invoice the same way for the next family

General/Other

  • We fixed an issue where teachers would run into an error trying to send an email to another teacher if they didn’t have the privilege to manage other teachers’ lessons/events and students
  • When writing a new email, selecting the group of a specific teacher’s students will no longer include inactive students
  • We fixed an issue where, when adding a new student, after closing the invalid email error and then inputting another invalid email, you still couldn’t move on to the next step but there was no message indicating why
  • You can now manually enter negative make-up credits if you need to override the amount
  • We fixed an account-specific issue that incorrectly displayed subfolders in Online Resources as being under the Home directory when moving files
  • For warning banners that include a list of family or student names, you’ll now be able to expand & collapse the banner when there’s more than 3 names

Student Management:

  • We fixed a bug where the “New Message” button on the Message History page after sending an email to a specific family would show the dropdown options to select the previously emailed family
  • We fixed a cosmetic issue where scrolling down when previewing an email before it was sent would add some blank spacing at the top of the preview window
  • We fixed a warning banner that wasn’t displaying the text correctly when updating student default prices in bulk
  • We updated the search field for Teachers on the Students page from a dropdown (where you could only select one teacher) to a multi-select field so you can search by multiple teachers at once
  • We updated the Existing Family dropdown field so when opened, it starts at the top of the list rather than scrolling to the very bottom
  • After changing a student’s time zone, the page now automatically refreshes once saved so you can see the updated time zone right away
  • We changed the type of field for Groups when adding a new student to make it consistent with the Groups field in other areas
  • We added a banner on the New Message page to let you know if you’re trying to email a student or parent who doesn’t have an email address on file
  • The Student Since column now shows the number of years/months, not just the date the student started

Calendar & Attendance

  • We added a warning to let you know when a student has already reached the make-up limit as per your policies when you’re trying to issue them another one (you can still continue to override the policy)
  • We added the Attachments column as an option on the Attendance & Notes page column picker
  • We fixed an issue where taking attendance in bulk wouldn’t copy the lesson notes forward
  • We updated the “Events left this week” counter so it doesn’t include any upcoming events already marked Absent
  • We tweaked the attendance icons on the calendar view (the green checkmark or red X)to make it easier to see when using the bold theme
  • You can now add a new piece of repertoire when taking group attendance if you don’t currently have any existing repertoire
  • The following columns are now sortable on the Students page: Make-Up Credits, Default Price, Default Lesson Length
  • Switching from Month or Week view to Timeline view now automatically refreshes to load the teachers or locations immediately
  • We fixed an issue where a substitute teacher couldn’t view the student’s contact info
  • We fixed an error that would appear when trying to take attendance for a student that was no longer set as Active or Lead
  • We fixed an issue with the Repeat Until date selector where it wasn’t always loading correctly when editing an event
  • We updated the date picker so you only need to select the month you want to print and not days (since it will always print just the full month anyways)
  • We changed the Organize By option for the calendar Day view so it will remember your selection for the next time you log in
  • We updated the Timeline view so once you delete an event it won’t automatically condense the subject options down the side
  • We added the Download Permissions options when uploading a new Online Resource through the attendance page
  • We made the background of the current day on the calendar a bit brighter for more contrast so it stands out more
  • We made some updates to the calendar sync to improve performance and display data (like multiple sibling names for one event) better

Student Portal

  • We fixed an issue where blog posts were displaying in the News section of the Student Portal
  • We made the Date column always visible on the Attendance & Notes page instead of making it an optional column so families can always see which date the lesson was on
  • We fixed an issue where upon login to the Student Portal, families were brought to the Home page even if the account’s settings were supposed to default to a different page

General/Other

  • We fixed an issue that would return email notifications back to the default settings when upgrading to the new version
  • We updated the table of information on the Mileage page to add optional columns, a sort button, and improve the mobile layout
  • When editing a recurring charge, the Repeat Until date no longer resets
  • When initially selecting a payment processor in your Business Settings, the convenience fee section no longer disappears
  • We updated the SMS sender name for UK & Australia SMS messages to comply with new SMS originator registration legislation (messages will now be sent from a generic MMS sender name)
  • When changing a teacher’s payroll settings for make-up credits, you’ll now be prompted to apply the change to the calendar
  • We fixed an issue with selecting multiple files from your device to upload to Online Resources
  • Swiping across tabs on touchscreen tablets & laptops now works correctly again
  • Download permissions for Online Resources are now set to “View only” by default
  • We fixed the date format for the UAE (English) region
  • Various cosmetic and text changes throughout
